The meeting of June 18, 2011
Honored by the presence of distinguished guests, who made a memorable day, last June 18, 2011 we remembered for the second consecutive year the Montegabbione battle of liberation from German occupation, fought by a British infantry regiment on June 16, 1944.
The event was organized by the Cultural Association "June 44".
Here is the program of the event.
One of the themes explored in the conference focuses on the solo mission of a British Sherman tank hunting a German Panzer IV Special which was causing significant problems to the British infantry.
The first contact between the two opponents is reconstructed in the image below, an elaboration of a postcard of the time.
